In NinePath's method, for birth years 1900 to 2099, you are a life path 2 when the eight digits of your birth date add up to 20. In an early numerology book, Balliett (1905) calls the people of 2 "peace-makers".
How do I know if I am a life path 2?
To find your life path number, add all eight digits of your birth date, then add the digits of the total until one digit is left. If a step lands on 11, 22 or 33, NinePath keeps it as a master number. The full method is in how to calculate your life path number.
For birth years 1900 to 2099, a plain 2 comes from one total only: 20. The totals 11, 29, 38 and 47 land on 11 first.
| Sample date | Total | Reduction |
|---|---|---|
| 6 July 2005 | 20 | 2 + 0 = 2 |
| 17 January 2000 | 11 | Kept as 11 |
| 14 March 1992 | 29 | 2 + 9 = 11, kept |
| 7 May 1997 | 38 | 3 + 8 = 11, kept |
| 29 September 1989 | 47 | 4 + 7 = 11, kept |

0 + 6 + 0 + 7 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 5 = 20, then 2 + 0 = 2.
The life path number for this date is 2.
A master number still has a single digit: 11 reduces to 2, 22 to 4 and 33 to 6, and NinePath keeps both. So a total of 11, 29, 38 or 47 gives life path 11, with the single digit 2.

What does life path 2 mean in early numerology books?
One early American numerology book is Mrs. L. Dow Balliett's How to Attain Success Through the Strength of Vibration (Balliett, 1905). She wrote that the birth date, added up, shows "the path in life we ourselves chose" (page 38). Under the heading "No. 2", she wrote that "No. 2 has the mother nature and is intuitive" (page 22).
They are peace-makers. Great arbitrators are found under this number.
Read this as tradition, not as a measured fact about you. Balliett gave 11 its own section (page 31). To try the idea in a day, listen fully before you answer.
Why do some calculators say 11 instead of 2?
NinePath adds all eight digits at once. Another method reduces the month, the day and the year to one digit each, adds those, and keeps 11. When 11 is on the way, the two can differ.

All digits: 0 + 1 + 0 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 20, then 2. Parts first: 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 18, then 9; then 1 + 1 + 9 = 11.
NinePath's method gives 2, and the parts-first method gives 11.
Balliett's method differs again: she kept 11 and 22 apart instead of adding them in (page 38). Pick one method and use it every time. Your life path comes from your birth date only, so it stays the same for life.

Do
Write down your total before you read any description of 2.
Don't
Don't treat an old description of 2 as a rule about who you are.
Questions people ask
Is life path 20 the same as life path 2?
Yes. A total of 20 reduces to 2 + 0 = 2, so 20 is a step on the way, not a separate life path.
Is life path 11 the same as life path 2?
Not quite. In NinePath's method, 11 is a master number whose single digit is 2, and both are kept.
Do I need my birth time to know if I am a 2?
No. The life path uses only the day, month and year you were born.
